EYT Portraiture By Ethan
April 5th, 2011 by Shelly
In EYT (Extend Your Talents) this term we were chosen for things that we were good at and put into groups of these things, Music, Sport, Art, etc. I was put into portraiture the art group; in our group we put our art skills to the test by having to draw portraits of ourselves using photos to copy our faces. With an array of tools we practised on paper until we believed we could draw a good copy, now we are all working on our good copies that will be pinned up outside of the school staffroom once they are completed.
Here are the final portraits from me and Amelia.

The Magic Flute- By Amelia
April 5th, 2011 by Shelly
On Friday the 25th of March, the grade 5/6 classes and 2C went to see the Victorian Operas performance Of Mozart’s, “The Magic Flute.” The Victorian Opera composed a short primary version for us to watch since the real performance went for 3 hours. They sung in German, but the translations were in English (the translations were shown on the side of the walls). There was also a narrator. He told the story line in English so we understood the story. I interviewed Claudia (56A) on her thoughts on The Magic Flute. She said, “it was great t have a feel of the German language, and it was nice that that they incorporated it in the performance. Altogether it was an enjoying performance, and a great day out.

Harmony Picnic – by Esta
April 4th, 2011 by Shelly
On Wednesday the 23rd of March, North Fitzroy Primary School had a picnic for Harmony day. On Harmony day, everybody wore as much orange as they could. There was wonderful music to dance to and everybody brought delicious food to eat and share. Edinburgh gardens was full of students, families, teachers and even ex-students, all having fun together.
For the Harmony picnic the level 4 students in 5 and 6 crated Balinese flags called umbull umbulls.
The students painted these flags very bright colours. They looked wonderful. Lexie from 5/6 A said “I thought that the Harmony picnic was fun. It was very colourful and there was a lot of orange around,” .
Over all, the Harmony picnic was fun, colourful and exciting
